JEWISH VOICES FROM AROUND THE WORLD – TILES OF A MOSAIC is a powerful anthology that explores Jewish life, identity, and belonging across continents, cultures, and generations. From the mountains of Dagestan to the islands of the Caribbean, through eighteen deeply personal essays, this collection illuminates how history, migration, memory, and tradition have shaped Jewish identities in a wide range of diverse settings.
Featuring contributions from highly regarded authors such as Ruth Behar, Elizabeth Graver, Nadia Ragozhina and Sarah Sassoon, educators, artists, and community leaders, the book brings together voices from Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas. Each essay offers a first-hand reflection on family history and cultural inheritance, revealing both the extraordinary variety of Jewish experiences and the profound connections that transcend political and geographic boundaries.
Edited by Dóra Korányi and Sebastián Mizrahi, founders of Qesher (Hebrew for "connection"), this anthology is a natural extension of their work to foster understanding among global Jewish communities. Since its founding in 2020, Qesher has introduced thousands of participants worldwide to lesser-known Jewish histories through conversations with speakers from across the globe. JEWISH VOICES FROM AROUND THE WORLD - TILES OF A MOSAIC brings that mission into print. The book showcases voices from communities, both large and small – some flourishing, others preserved mainly through memory – capturing languages, customs, and traditions, some at risk of disappearing.

About the Editors
Dóra Korányi is from Budapest, Hungary, and she has also lived in the United States, Israel, and Italy. A psychologist by training, she has long been involved in Jewish communal life through both family ties and professional work. In 2020, she and her husband Sebastián co-founded Qesher, the project behind this book.
Sebastián Mizrahi was born and raised in Venezuela to Argentinian parents of Syrian-Jewish and Russian-Jewish descent. He studied archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and history in Salamanca, Spain. He currently lives in Budapest, where he co-founded Qesher with his wife, Dóra, in 2020.
