Jewish Tour of Scandinavia:

Denmark, Norway, Sweden

Tuesday, September 8

USA 12:00 pm PT / 3:00 pm ET

UK 8:00 pm / France 9:00 pm / Israel 10:00 pm

The talk will last approximately 90 minutes

Join us for an unforgettable Jewish heritage journey through Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
Through breathtaking Nordic landscapes, we'll meet centuries of intertwined history in the heart of Scandinavia. In the second half, Ronen Thalmay will share details about the Jewish Heritage tour to Scandinavia, which will take place in May/June and in August 2027.

First Part

Join us on a virtual tour where breathtaking Nordic landscapes meet centuries of shared history. From the Viking Age to the Kalmar Union (1397–1520), the region's kingdoms have long been connected by language, culture, and a strong sense of community. Yet the Jewish experience in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden has followed very different paths, marked by both hardship and hope.

We'll take you through the streets of Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm and explore how Jewish life began in each country under very different circumstances—from King Christian IV's invitation to Jewish families to settle in Denmark in 1622 to the heroic rescue of the vast majority of Denmark's Jews in 1943. We'll learn about Norway's wartime tragedy and Sweden's role as a refuge, offering protection not only to its Nordic neighbors but also to Jews fleeing persecution across Europe.

Second Part

In the second part of our meeting, we will present the itinerary and details of the Jewish Heritage tour to Scandinavia taking place from May 26 to June 4, 2027, and from August 18 to 27, 2027.
Through guided tours, cultural encounters, and personal stories, you'll discover three amazing capitals in all their beauty, while exploring how Jewish communities—small in
numbers but strong in spirit—built enduring connections across borders.
