Denmark, Norway, Sweden

Tuesday, January 6

USA 12:00 pm PT / 3:00 pm ET

UK 8:00 pm / France 9:00 pm / Israel 10:00 pm

The talk will last approximately 90 minutes

Join us for an unforgettable Jewish heritage journey through Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
Through breathtaking Nordic landscapes, we'll meet centuries of intertwined history in the heart of Scandinavia. In the second half, Ronen Thalmay will share details about the Jewish Heritage tour to Scandinavia, which will take place in August 2026.

First Part

Join us on a virtual tour where breathtaking Nordic landscapes blend with centuries of shared history. From the Viking Age to the Kalmar Union (1393–1520), the region's kingdoms have long been connected by language, culture, and a strong sense of community. Yet the Jewish experience in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden has taken very different paths, marked by both hardship and hope. We will virtually take you through the streets of Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm, and learn about how Jewish life began under very different circumstances: from King Christian IV welcoming Jewish families to Denmark in 1622, to the heroic 1943 rescue of 95% of Denmark's Jews. We'll speak about Norway's wartime tragedy, and Sweden's role as a refuge and light for not only its neighbors but for Jews across Europe.

Second Part

In the second part of our meeting, we will present the itinerary and details of the Jewish Heritage tour to Scandinavia taking place in August 2026.
Through guided tours, cultural encounters, and personal stories, you'll discover three amazing capitals in all their beauty, while exploring how Jewish communities — small in
numbers but strong in spirit — built enduring connections across borders.
